Ward Cedar Log Homes was founded by Bruce Ward, who started manufacturing pre-cut cabins from surplus telephone poles in 1923. When Bruce Ward built a cedar log cabin on a lake in Northern Maine, his friends and neighbors asked him to build cabins for them. Because Ward couldn't keep up with the demand of hand hewing each log, he invented a special interlocking milling technique, and the Ward Cabin Company was founded. Bruce Ward's first homes were a huge success. One of his original houses, built in 1926, is still being used today in Yarmouth, Maine. |
